Job Description and Duties
The Chief Engineer II will be directed by the Chief of Plant Operations I at the Department of State Hospitals – Atascadero (ASH). The incumbent will be responsible for the following duties but not limited to:
• Assures timely completion of annual performance
evaluations and probationary reports.
• Monitors necessary Core
Training, attendance, and approves callbacks, as outlined in the Plant
Operations Emergency Callback Procedure.
• Develops, implements, and monitors an effective
supervisory system which ensures that hospital objectives are
accomplished, including controlling the work location relative to
inappropriate staff patient interactions.
• Establishes priorities involving work orders and develops preventive
maintenance procedures.
• Monitors timely completion of
assignments.
• Reviews monthly reports and assures monthly status
report completion.
• Maintains the work order Maintenance Connection computer system
and enters work performed by Stationary Engineers and Maintenance
Mechanics as assigned.
• Prepares, evaluates and signs all Form 5’s, Service Orders, and
contracts associated with the Boiler Plant, Welding Shop, Chiller
Plant, Sewage Plant, HVAC and Refrigeration.
• Sees that Stationary Engineers and Maintenance Mechanics follow
good safety practices in their work areas.
• Maintains and follows proper tool control procedures and trains
employees in same procedures.
Eligibility : To be considered for this career opportunity, applicants must have eligibility by way of one of the following: reachable on a certification list, have transfer eligibility, have reinstatement eligibility, or be eligible by TAU or T&D appointment.
