Job Description

About Tramontina: Founded in Brazil in 1911, Tramontina began as a small, family-owned business and has since grown into a global leader. Today, we create quality products for homes and hospitality spaces around the world. We take pride in our craftsmanship, innovation, and unwavering commitment to integrity. If you want to build a career where quality matters and your work makes a meaningful impact, we’d love to welcome you to our team.

About the Role:
As a Product Design Engineer, you will be responsible for transforming conceptual ideas into tangible, manufacturable products by merging mechanical engineering principles with industrial design. Your primary focus is to ensure that products are not only aesthetically functional but also manufacturable, robust, and cost-effective. You will work closely with industrial designers, tooling vendors, and manufacturing partners to oversee the technical lifecycle of consumer houseware products, from detailed surfacing and mechanical specifications to successful production launch.

Minimum Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a closely related field.
* 3+ years of experience in consumer product development or a related manufacturing field.
* Proficiency in CAD software SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Rhino.
* Solid understanding of mass production manufacturing processes, specifically injection molding, metal casting, and tooling design.
* Adept at cross-functional collaboration and communication skills to bridge the gap between engineering, product, and manufacturing teams.
* Proven ability to manage technical documentation, including assembly drawings, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and engineering change orders.

Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience specifically within the housewares or kitchenware industry.
* Hands-on experience with rapid prototyping, SLA/FDM printing, and physical testing/validation.
* Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and tolerance analysis for high-volume parts.
* Experience communicating directly with overseas manufacturing partners and managing technical production issues.
* Understanding of regulatory compliance and safety testing requirements for consumer goods.
Responsibilities:
* Translate industrial design concepts into fully manufacturable, high-quality 3D models and technical assembly drawings.
* Lead Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) efforts to optimize product cost, quality, and cycle time.
* Manage the technical development lifecycle, including tooling review, initial sampling, and resolving production anomalies.
* Conduct thorough engineering analysis (e.g., fit, function, tolerance, thermal properties) to ensure reliability and performance.
* Collaborate daily with industrial designers to maintain design integrity while solving complex engineering constraints.
* Support the maintenance of technical documentation, specifications, and project timelines.
* Lead cross-departmental efforts to validate product performance through testing, prototyping, and user evaluation.
* Catalog and maintain proprietary assets, such as tooling drawings, technical documents, & 3D CAD components.

Skills:
Your core strength lies in technical precision and engineering rigor. Proficiency in CAD surfacing is essential for developing complex geometries, while your production knowledge ensures these designs translate successfully to the factory floor. You possess the ability to communicate technical requirements clearly to manufacturing partners, helping to alleviate bottlenecks in the production process. Your analytical mindset allows you to troubleshoot manufacturing or assembly issues effectively, supporting the transition of projects from concept to a successful, scalable production reality.
