The Office of the Chancellor supports the Chancellor's leadership by providing administrative, organizational, communications support and strategy development and services to advance the Chancellor's vision and to execute campus priorities as identified in UC San Diego's first-ever strategic plan. The Strategic Planning Analyst plays a critical role in advancing the institution's goals by coordinating and facilitating strategic projects across the entire university. Reporting to both the Assistant Vice Chancellor/Chief of Staff to the Vice Chancellor Chief Financial Officer, and the Associate Chancellor, the incumbent supports campus-wide efforts to ensure projects align with the institution's strategic objectives. Their responsibilities include managing the end-to-end project lifecycle from planning to execution and ensuring the successful delivery of projects that contribute to the institution's overall strategic success.

In this role, the Strategic Planning Analyst collaborates with senior leadership to understand and align projects with the institution's strategic plan, translating strategic objectives into actionable project plans with well-defined deliverables and timelines. Develops, implements, and manages project plans, adhering to timelines, budgets, and quality standards, while leading cross-functional project teams and providing direction, support, and motivation to achieve project goals.

The Strategic Planning Analyst identifies and engages key stakeholders at various levels of the institution, communicate project objectives, progress, and outcomes through effective and transparent communication channels. Identifies potential risks and challenges associated with projects and develop proactive mitigation strategies, monitoring and reporting on project risks, and make adjustments to plans, as needed.

Furthermore, the incumbent works collaboratively with departments affected by strategic planning to facilitate smooth transitions, implementing change management strategies to ensure successful adoption of new processes and practices, and support campaign planning efforts. To evaluate the success of this work, develops and implements project evaluation frameworks, preparing regular progress reports and presentations for senior leadership and relevant stakeholders. Serves as a strong facilitator and liaison to advance the mission and goals of the organization. Promotes a culture of equity, inclusion, respect, and superior customer service to internal and external constituents. In summary, the Strategic Planning Analyst plays a critical role in advancing the institution's goals by facilitating strategic planning efforts, managing projects, engaging stakeholders, supporting campaign planning efforts, and evaluating project success.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

  • Ability to independently perform the full range of responsibilities within the strategic planning function, possessing broad job knowledge, and analyzing problems/issues of diverse scope.

  • Skills and experience in project management, stakeholder engagement, and change management.

  • Strong skills in analyzing, researching and synthesizing large amounts of data for preparing sound and relevant proposals / analyses.

  • Experience leading cross-functional project teams, providing direction, support, and motivation to achieve project goals.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with varied units across the organization, encouraging voluntary participation in all aspects of the planning and execution of initiatives.

  • Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to determine workload priorities and to provide direction for effort to ensure accomplishment of objectives in a timely manner.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $67,200 - $119,600 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $32.18 - $57.28

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
